Presenters:


Courtney Hall, is a Staff Attorney for Texas Advocacy Project and is a graduate of University of Texas School of Law.  In her current position, Ms. Hall assists victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in a variety of family law cases that include protective orders, divorces, and child custody.     
 

Jose Juan Lara, Jr., MA, MS, Director of Advocacy and Training for Texas Advocacy Project, has been involved in the movement against gender violence since 1999. Through his work, Mr. Lara has facilitated workshops at national, state, and local conferences on crisis intervention, systems advocacy for victims of family and sexual violence, and LGBTQ victims of interpersonal violence. Prior to joining Texas Advocacy Project, Mr. Lara was the Legal Advocate Program Coordinator for Friendship of Women, Inc. in Brownsville, Case Manager Supervisor/Volunteer Coordinator for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Cameron and Willacy Counties, and Director of Legal Services for the Family Crisis Center, Inc. in Harlingen.
 

Workshop Description:

 

When understanding the dynamics of financial abuse it is important for survivors and advocates to be aware of  legal options and how they intersect with financial literacy to protect survivors assets and provide for their future. This webinar will focus discussion on enhancing a survivors economic security through legal advocacy.
